Ribadiso to O Pedrouzo

14.7 Miles

Rain clouds and bigger crowds on the camino today as we walked our next-to-last day! While it was a bit too rainy for many pictures, it was great for chatting with friends!

Chance Meetings

After a few casual greetings, and seeing these three folks for several days, we ended up at the same cafe along the way and decided it was time for introductions. Keith & Charlotte, and her sister Alex from the UK. We really enjoyed chatting and ended up walking along with them for several miles.

Later, after reaching O Pedrouzo, we walked into a restaurant close to the laundromat we were using, and there they were! They were about to finish up, but we bought a bottle of wine and shared it before they had to leave. Hopefully we’ll meet again on a visit to the UK!

A Day Away

After a quick start to the day, we walked just a few kilometers up the road to Arzua, a larger city than Ribadiso. We found a panaderia and enjoyed delicious pastry, OJ, and coffee for breakfast. Then back on the trail. Fortunately, it didn’t start raining until late morning when we stopped for a break.

After that, we had rain the rest of the day. Honestly, the real problem with rain isn’t the rain itself. It’s the fact that you have to be more focued on the path, and can’t really look around at the scenery as much. Even in the rain, Galicia is beautiful!

High humidity creates the wisps of fog in the trees.

Arriving at our hotel (which was very modern and different, in a good way), we went through our usual routine, then found our way to the laundromat.

And the end of the day. Such a strange feeling knowing that tomorrow we will be in Santiago…the end of this journey.

Lots of people on the Camino now!
We had a delicious lunch at a small cafe/bar. Our bill was in this.
Raindrops keep fallin'...that's why it's so green!
One of many memorials all along the way.
Pumpkin time!
Hmmm...this does remind me of something!
