Emotional day as we attained the highest point on the Camino, laid our rocks at the Iron Cross and faced a strenuous descent into town.
Astorga to Rabanal del Camino
A relatively easy day with beautiful weather, scenery, and a wonderful place to stay. Great dinner and visiting with friends!
San Martin del Camino to Astorga
Working our way back to the hills was a delight, as was walking some of that way with our friend, Beverly. A great hotel, dinner, and rest!
Leon to San Martin del Camino
Dale walked while I cabbed due to my shin splints, and our decision to give them one more rest day. It seems festival is going on in other towns.
Day in Leon
Church and museum tour, a sneak peek at festival preparation, pizza for lunch, cathedral tour, then back to the festival!
Mansilla de las Mulas to Leon
Love Leon! Enjoyed a great dinner, catching up with friends who all seem to be here at the same time, and Leon is preparing for festival!
Bercianos to Mansilla de las Mules
Provided with a beautiful, shady path, we had an easy walk, but for some strange reason I developed shin splints in one leg. But a great dinner and good rest helped!
Terradillos to Bercanios
Another hot day, but a more shady path, meeting new friends, old churches, and enjoying observing a local domino’s and card game.
Carrion de Los Condes to Terradillos
Passing the halfway point, we spent this long, hot day with friends from Australia and celebrating their team’s championship!
Fromista to Carrio de Los Condes
Wonderful day with friends, pleasant walking, a great apartment, home cooking, wine, chocolate, and a good night’s sleep.
