Triacastela to Sarria

11.6 Miles

Wow! Down to our last 6 days. Tomorrow, when we leave Sarria, there will be many more pilgrims on the camino. One way to do your Camino is to walk the last 100k from Sarria to Santiago. Many people who can’t take so much time off to start at a further point, do this.

Such Beauty

Today, the weather was wonderful, not too hot and partly cloudy so the sun wasn’t beaming down hard all day. Also, we went through such picturesque landscapes and byways! Galicia does indeed remind me of pictures I’ve seen of Ireland. And they have close ties with that country.

Caught the sun peeking through.

Another Oasis

At one point, in between towns that were a good distance apart, we came upon an oasis. It was like a house set up outside, with a partly covered area. They had lots of fruits, grains, nuts, and goodies for donation only! Also a bathroom…very important. What a pleasure and a blessing!

Our walk began great…my left shin splints seemed better. After about 10k, it began making itself known, so I slowed down and Dale went on ahead to check us in. Took my pain blocker, began to feel better and finished (still slowly) but ok. I’m looking into using KT.

Finding Dinner

We’ve done well eating the pilgrim meal, the Menu de Dia, on a regular basis, but sometimes ya just need something different! We discovered a pizza place that has a wood pizza oven and couldn’t resist. It was really good!! And a nice break from pork or chicken and potatoes (typical pilgrim dinner).

Pilgrim Mass

The Iglesia Santa Marina is a small church that does a pilgrim mass at 7 which we attended. Always a blessing.

One thing was bothering me though…a little niggling sore throat which I decided to ignore.

Even on the Camino, you have choices to make!
